Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit
From Jesus’ last words, “Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit.” (Luke 23:46 NASB), we see that He died as he had lived:
- With the words of Scripture on His lips (Psa. 31:5, Luke 2:46-47, John 7:14-15, Mark 12:24, Matt. 27:46 with Psa. 22:1)
- With a prayer in His heart (Matt. 26:39)
- With a continuing commitment to do God’s will in all things (John 6:38, John 9:4, John 8:29)
Jesus’ last words sum up what both life and death meant to Him.
