To prepare for the storms of life, you must build on the foundation of Christ’s teachings. (Matt. 7:24)

The previous three chapters give an eight-point foundation checklist:

Keep at peace with your brother. (Matt. 5:21-27)
Keep marriages together. (Matt. 5:28-32)
Be forthright and honest. (Matt. 5:33-37)
Treat all people with love. (Matt. 5:38-48)
Be sincere, not showy. (Matt. 6:1-18)
Keep a priority on spiritual things. (Matt. 6:19-34)
Don’t apply a double standard. (Matt. 7:1- 6)
Ask for the good things we need and want from God. (Matt. 7:7-12)
