Building Each Other Up
Jude 1:20-21: But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Christians, we love you and care for you, both spiritually and physically. We are praying for you daily.
We will assemble together again when this outbreak of disease has passed.
Take care of yourself and your family, and follow the directives of the government.
The current situation emphasizes that the church is designed to be part of the society in which we live. So, whatever affects the society also affects the church – we are not “magically shielded” from the problems/difficulties of the world. Our love for God and for one another, our faithfulness, and our hope make us shine as the light to the world (Matthew 5:14-16). So let your light shine. When you must go out, protect yourself and others. Be social, yet distanced. Now is a good time to show your faith to the world in social networking sites on the internet.
Members: think about what you may need, even the “little things.” We may be able to help – please call an elder, a deacon, or the main number at the church building. As always, we will do what we can to help you.
God is still in control, and is watching out for us and providing for us. Keep Him first in everything. Pray often.
And pray for people you ordinarily would not remember.
We are still a family – and not just any family. We are God’s family.
We will not get this time back when it is over. Don’t miss the opportunities you have to strengthen your family.
Call your friends and family and “stay in touch” with them. Ask each other questions about Biblical topics, or share your favorite Bible stories. Conduct an informal Bible class with your children – teaching materials can be made available. Ask them to draw a picture or write a story about a day on the Ark with Noah, or about a day with Jesus while He was on earth. Watch a video together from WVBS or Apologetics Press, or another online resource (some of which we have listed on our website).
Read your favorite scriptures. Meditate on some of your favorite Psalms.
Let’s continue to build each other up in our most holy faith.
1 Thessalonians 5:11, 14-18: Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. … Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
