These are unprecedented times for all of us. Let us be assured that God is in control and that he is there for all our needs. We have His promise of getting His children through the rough times in life and for you, this may well be one of those times.

We are encouraged and comforted by the fellowship we enjoy as Christians. That won’t be possible for a while now in the way we are accustomed. Even though we are separated physically we are still the church and should continue our lives in service to God. There is any number of ways that we can use this time of turmoil in our lives to improve ourselves and to reach out to others.

Let’s take advantage of this time to do just that, to refocus our time, effort and energy in molding and shaping our will to God’s and become closer to Him. It may be as simple as letting Him talk to you by reading an extra passage or two from the Bible each day or praying for someone who you’ve never prayed for before. It may mean getting out of our comfort zone and connecting in a different way with each other. It may mean reaching out to the stranger in line at the store or asking your neighbor if they need assistance.

This is not time to retreat in total isolation from our neighbors, the world, or ourselves. We can quarantine ourselves from the virus but still reach out to those around us with the hope, comfort, and the light of God.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 7

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.

8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
